Why Produce a Sustainability Report?
Producing a sustainability report is a key
means of demonstrating your organisation’s
commitment to corporate social responsibility.
By effectively reporting on your economic,
environmental and social impacts, you can
be accountable to your full range of stakeholders.
The act of reporting also drives increased
performance improvement as organisations
develop their culture and structure for corporate
social responsibility. Using international
guidelines or sector-specific frameworks,
we can help you to compare your organisation’s
performance over time, as well as benchmark
against your peers and competitors.
Our Experience
Drawing on our core competencies and experience
in developing and reviewing sustainability
reports, facilitating stakeholder engagement,
and our knowledge of international CSR frameworks,
ACCSR can help you build your reporting capabilities,
develop targets, prepare reports
and review the success of your reporting efforts.
We have helped clients such as Transurban
develop their first sustainability report.
We have also helped mature reporters such
as Westpac and PowerCor evaluate and improve
their sustainability reports.

Learn
To give you the skills and knowledge you need,
ACCSR conducts public and in-house workshops
on sustainability reporting, covering the
benefits of reporting, the elements of a
good social report, the place of CSR reporting
within general CSR communications and activity,
and the emerging global architecture for
reporting and assurance including the Global
Reporting Initiative (GRI). For more information
on ACCSR’s learning programs go to:

Implement
We can help you research, plan and write your
sustainability report to ensure it meets
requirements such as “materiality”, “inclusiveness
and assurability” and “responsiveness” as
defined by the GRI G3 guidelines and AccountAbility’s
AA1000 standard. We do this through stakeholder
research that provides an empirical foundation
for responding to stakeholders’ reasonable
expectations and interests.
ACCSR can also support your participation
in ratings surveys such as the Dow Jones Sustainability
Index by reviewing your assessment and integrating
ratings questions into data requests being
made for your sustainability report.
Evaluate
ACCSR conducts both stakeholder and expert
reviews to evaluate the report’s impact
and identify opportunities for improvement.
This can help highlight what is working well
and areas which need further refinement.
Our report reviews cover issues such as readability,
design, materiality, inclusiveness, responsiveness
and performance evaluations.
To help you assess where you are, and where
you want to be, ACCSR can also benchmark your
report against international reporting and
assurance standards such as the GRI’s
G3 guidelines, the AA1000 standard, United
Nations Global Compact principles and industry-specific
protocols. The benchmarking results can provide
an empirical foundation for forward planning
your organisation’s sustainability goals.
“We
were really happy with the outcomes
and the process that ACCSR used to
review our Stakeholder Impact Report.
We had excellent feedback about the
process from both employees and external
stakeholders. They said it really
made a difference having someone
who understood the subject matter
and appreciated the nuances of key
issues. ACCSR’s recommendations
are practical and have informed our
plans to further improve our Stakeholder
Impact Report.”
