At ACCSR we often host guest case studies as part of our public workshop program or we are asked to make pro-bono presentations on CSR to various groups in the community.

2012 – February to April
ACCSR presents at CPA national roadshow on the carbon price

ACCSR’s senior consultant, Jan Fitzgerald, has been undertaking a national roadshow in conjunction with CPA Australia in February, March and April 2012. The topic of these seminars has been “Carbon Price: The impact on you and your business”. Jan has been providing an overview of the scheme, as well as speaking about the direct and indirect price implications (including supply chain), and the need to start understanding and calculating the budgetary impacts for the 2012-13 financial year and beyond.

 

2011 – June
ACCSR presents at International Conference on Impact Assessment

ACCSR’s Senior International Associate, Dr Robert Boutilier, Managing Director, Dr Leeora Black and Senior Consultant, Sara Bice showed how to use advanced stakeholder mapping and engagement methods in social impact assessment at the Annual conference of the International Association of Impact Assessment, in Puebla, Mexico, on 3 June 2011.

2011 – March

Cumulative Impacts workshop at the Sustainable Minerals Institute
Dr Leeora Black was invited to give a case study on the Upper Hunter Mining dialogue at a workshop organised by the University of Queensland’s  Sustainable Minerals Institute on the topic “Understanding and Managing Cumulative Impacts in Resource Regions” in Brisbane, on 28-30 March 2011.

Fujitsu presents Case Study at ACCSR Workshop
Fujitsu’s Global executive Director Sustainability, Alison Rowe, presented a case study for our Communicating CSRworkshop on the Japanese ICT company’s sustainability approach and how they developed a new product to help their clients improve their own environmental footprint management.

CSR in Vietnam – Perspectives from a visit in February

ACCSR’s Associate Magalie Marais visited Vietnam in February to teach a course for the La Trobe University Graduate School of Management. This presentation was first given to ACCSR staff as part of our internal professional development program.

NetImpact CSR Careers Panel

ACCSR’s Senior Consultant Jackie Allender participated in the NetImpact CSR Careers Panel, a forum was aimed at showing the different paths into sustainability/CSR careers. This presentation described the diversity of people working in this area, the reasons why people choose to work in this field and some of the key employment-related findings of the most recent State of CSR Annual Review.

ACCSR Consultant Natasha Malinda addressed year 12 students at Shelford Girl’s Grammar School on the topic “Social Justice and Social Responsibility”, as part of a leadership development program.

La Trobe GCCR Presentation

ACCSR’s Managing Director, Dr Leeora Black, spoke to the Business and Society class at La Trobe University Graduate School of Management (Graduate Certificate in Corporate Responsibility), drawing on results of the State of CSR in Australia series to consider job prospects in CSR.

2010 – November
Measuring the Social License to Operate

ACCSR’s Managing Director, Dr Leeora Black, gave a presentation at the Social License to Operate Conference in Brisbane that discussed new measures we are using in our Stakeholder 360® research projects.

The social license to operate measures were developed together with ACCSR’s Senior International Associate, Dr Robert Boutilier. We used them in three client projects in the mining industry in 2010. The projects collectively covered 12 communities.

2010 – September
What in the world has the new Social Responsibility Standard got to do with Dentists?

ACCSR’s Managing Director Dr Leeora Black gave a presentation on the new ISO26000 Guidance Standard to the Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch. They subsequently adopted ISO 26000 to provide guidance to their council, committees and staff, even encouraging small dental practices to follow the same guidance.

ACCSR’s Managing Director Dr Leeora Black gave a presentation to a business seminar organised by the Maroondah City Council & Shire of Yarra Ranges. Other presentations were given by Sarah Buckley from PwC and Nancie-Lee Robinson from Telstra.

2010 - May
NAB Presents Case Study at ACCSR Workshop

NAB Sustainability Projects Manager, Sandie Pullen presented a case study for our Communicating CSR workshop on the development of an employee champions Network at NAB, titled “Engaging Employees on Climate Change”.

The case study outlined NAB’s approach to corporate responsibility and described the company’s journey to become carbon neutral by September 2010, through the establishment of an employee grassroots campaign, and the introduction of NAB “Green Team” communities.

A New Standard for Social Responsibility

ACCSR’s Managing Director Dr Leeora Black spoke to the Philanthropy Australia Corporate Network Meeting about the implications of the new ISO26000 Standard on Social Responsiblitiy for philanthropy.
