Jan Fitzgerald is a Senior Consultant at ACCSR, and joined our team in August 2011. Jan has spent 13 years working in the corporate sustainability sector, both within organisations as a Sustainability Manager and consulting to a variety of businesses.
Jan’s expertise is in developing strategic frameworks for organisations, to help them embed sustainability principles and practices across their business. She has assisted organisations develop relevant organisational policies and procedures, and has facilitated employee culture change around sustainability. She has a particular focus on addressing corporate environmental impacts such as energy and carbon issues, resource use and waste management, water, biodiversity, and green buildings, and has worked extensively with organisations to assist them in understanding sustainability issues in their supply chain.
Jan complements her sustainability expertise with a strong financial background, having spent the first chapter of her working life in accounting, tax and finance roles, qualifying as a CPA, and working for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Westpac. Her appointment within Westpac as the first corporate environmental/ sustainability manager was the beginning of Jan’s journey into the corporate sustainability arena, which has seen the successful implementation of many projects and initiatives across a range of organisations and sectors including Melbourne Water, ANZ, ExxonMobil, VicTrack, CitiPower and Powercor, AAMI, PACIA and VECCI.
Jan has sat on many task forces and committees with government and business, and is currently a Director on the Board of the Waste Management Association of Australia, and Chair of the Victorian Industrial Ecology Network. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Studies and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
